Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children's Health

We all know how important it is to keep our children healthy. Good health is the foundation for a lifetime of success in everything we do. But, have you considered the impact that physical health has on your child's social and emotional development? Or the impact of good health on how well your child does in school?
Besides taking your child to the doctor for regular check-ups, it is important that your children get plenty of exercise. Children who get regular exercise benefit in many ways. They
* feel better about themselves,
* are able to participate in activities with peers,
* establish patterns for healthy lifestyles as adults,
* have a reduced risk for heart disease and other problems, and
* are better able to be fully alert and to concentrate.
Is your doctor screening for your young child's development? If not, please recommend the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ). This questionnaire take only a few minutes of your time, and can help you track your young child's development. If your doctor wants more information about this great tool, have him/her contact us at Project LAUNCH Saginaw, or visit the ASQ website.
